Spring Fling at Cellardoor Vineyard!

There is plenty happening at Cellardoor Vineyard May 10th (10am-5pm).

Wine tasting, Food, Ferris Wheel, Alpacas, Baby Goats, fun activities for children and much, much more! Last season when John and Bettina, of Cellardoor held a similar event at the end of the season, they had an amazing hot air balloon - a photo of which graces this year's cover of the ' The Jewel of Maine Coast' magazine. This Spring event promises to be just as spectacular!
Look out for wine tasting, tours, picnic's, and great cooking classes during the season. Definitely a 'Must Visit' place when you come to the Mid Coast.(only 10 minutes from Blue harbor House) Also, try and stop at 'Cellardoor winery at the villa', their second retail site opening in June, at the intersection route 90 and Route 1 Rockport.

Aldermere farm (Rockport - just a few miles from the Inn) is holding its annual Calf unveiling Day on the 10th May.. 10-3pm. See baby Belted Galloway calves ( Galloway's are originally from Scotland, - as are we- so we have a fondness for them!) It is a great (Free) day out, and besides the cattle, there are numerous local farms with fabulous goodies to sell.
The local farms participating this year include Sunnyside Farm that raise goats,(these are not for sale, just their products! ) Spruce Mountain Blueberries with blueberry items, Sewall Orchard with organic apple cider and cider vinegar, Village Farm Alpacas with yarn and information on their farm, State of Maine Cheese Company with various types of cheeses, Blue Sky Alpacas with alpacas and yarns, and Ells Farm & Sheep Dairy with meat samples, sheep skins, and yarn.

Moose visits Camden Inn

Guests at the Blue Harbor House got a rare treat for breakfast today (besides the delectable rhubarb and ginger pancakes) when a young Moose strolled passed the porch and calmly settled in the garden of the Inn. We all took the opportunity for an amazing impromptu photo session! Life in Maine is full of surprises! Posted by Picasa

Owls Head Light

Owls Head Light (12 miles from Camden) is an active Light dating from 1828 marking the south entrance of Rockland harbor. The lighthouse is located in Owls head Light state Park, and the keepers house is still used as quarters by the Coast Guard. It is accessible by road, with spectacular views and photo opportunities. These photos were taken on a beautiful Spring day, April 2008.
